EpiOtic is an ear cleaner designed for regular hygiene and as an aid in the management of external otitis in dogs and cats.
Its formulation combines keratolytic action (salicylic acid), anionic surfactants and softeners (docusate sodium, diethylhexyl sodium sulfosuccinate), chelating agents (disodium EDTA) and a broad-spectrum antiseptic (PCMX).
The presence of monosaccharides and plant extracts (Peumus boldus and Spiraea ulmaria) together with SIS™ (Skin Innovative Science) technology provides the ability to modulate skin defenses and contribute to the reduction of microbial colonization and biofilm formation.
Mechanism of action: the keratolytic action facilitates the removal of scales and compacted earwax, the surfactants solubilize lipids and residues, and the EDTA improves antiseptic activity by dissolving biofilm matrices.
PCMX acts primarily against bacteria and some fungi/yeasts related to ear infections (e.g., Staphylococcus spp. and Malassezia spp.), reducing microbial load and secondary inflammation.
SIS™ technology enhances skin defenses not by providing an immunosuppressive effect, but by promoting an environment less favorable for the development of pathogenic microorganisms.
Clinical indications: periodic ear hygiene in healthy animals predisposed to cerumen accumulation; support in otitis externa treatment protocols as a complement to prescribed topical or systemic veterinary therapies.
The solution respects the physiological pH of the ear canal, which improves tolerance in sensitive skin and reduces the likelihood of irritation after application.
Practical specifications: 125 ml container with dropper dispenser for controlled application in the ear canal.
Product for external use; not indicated in case of confirmed tympanic perforation.
No specific protective duration in hours is known in the technical data sheet; the action is immediate upon cleansing and contributes to prevention by stimulating skin defenses and reducing the microbial load until the next application or exposure.

What species is it suitable for?
Dogs and cats; indicated for regular ear hygiene and as an aid in the management of external otitis.
Does it work against bacteria, fungi, or viruses?
Effective against bacteria and yeasts/fungi associated with external otitis; it is not listed as a product with declared virucidal activity.
How often should it be applied?
The frequency depends on the clinical condition and the veterinary indication; in regular hygiene the application can be repeated until visible cleanliness is obtained, and in pathological processes according to professional prescription.
Can it be used for painful acute otitis?
In cases of acute otitis with abundant discharge or severe pain, prior veterinary evaluation is necessary. The product may be used as a supplement if the veterinarian deems it appropriate.
Is it compatible with other topical treatments?
Generally compatible, but the combination with antimicrobials or specific products should follow veterinary advice to avoid interference.
Can it be used if there is a tympanic membrane perforation?
Contraindicated in case of perforation or suspected tympanic rupture.
How many hours does it protect for?
There is no specified duration in hours in the technical data sheet; it provides immediate cleansing and helps prevent recolonization until the next application or clinical intervention.
Is it safe for puppies and kittens?
Use in young animals should be assessed according to age and clinical condition; consult veterinary regulations or technical data sheet for specific ages.
1) Application procedure: unscrew the cap and remove the safety seal.
2) Turn the white applicator to allow drops to flow and place a small amount in the ear canal.
3) Gently massage the base of the ear for 10–20 seconds to promote the dispersion and emulsification of earwax.
4) Remove excess liquid and debris from the ear canal with a piece of cotton or absorbent paper. Do not use cotton swabs.
5) Repeat the process 1–3 times until the liquid comes out clear if applicable; perform the same process in the other ear.
6) Frequency of use: weekly to bi-weekly preventive hygiene according to the animal's predisposition; in clinical processes, follow the guidelines indicated by the veterinarian.
- Contraindicated in case of tympanic perforation or traumatic injury of the ear canal.
- Contact with eyes and mucous membranes: risk of irritation. In case of eye or mucous membrane exposure, rinse thoroughly with water.
- Do not use cotton swabs inside the ear canal to avoid damage to the eardrum and compaction of earwax.
- Keep out of reach of children; product intended for external veterinary use.
- Keep in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight.
- In animals with known hypersensitivity to any of the components (e.g. salicylic acid or PCMX), consider alternatives or prior testing under veterinary supervision.
- In severe otitis, with signs of intense pain, bleeding or abundant purulent discharge, prioritize veterinary evaluation before continuing with the use of cleaners.
- Check compatibility with prescribed topical antimicrobial treatments to avoid dilution or inactivation; always follow the professional's instructions.
