Dentaldine is an oral gel specifically formulated for dogs and cats that combines antiseptic efficacy and a texture designed for comfortable administration.
Its active ingredient, chlorhexidine digluconate 0.12% w/v, acts as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent that helps control bacterial colonization in the oral cavity, delaying the formation of plaque and tartar and contributing to maintaining healthy gums.
The gel formulation allows for prolonged diffusion over the dental and mucosal surface, promoting persistence and effectiveness after application.

Is this gel safe to use on dogs and cats?
Yes. Specifically designed for pets with 0.12% chlorhexidine, a safe and effective concentration for oral hygiene. However, if your pet has a history of allergies or severely damaged mucous membranes, consult your veterinarian.
How often should I apply it?
Apply once or twice daily between the gums and lip, massaging gently. Do not exceed the recommended frequency without veterinary supervision.
Does my pet lick itself after application? Does this affect the effectiveness?
The gel texture promotes adhesion for longer-lasting effect. If the pet licks it immediately, the effect may be reduced, so it is recommended to apply it when the pet is relatively calm and avoid feeding for a few minutes.
Can I use it while brushing my teeth?
Yes. Ideally, apply it after brushing to enhance mechanical cleaning and antiseptic action. Avoid toothpastes containing anionic surfactants (e.g., sodium lauryl sulfate) immediately before or after, as they can reduce the effectiveness of chlorhexidine.
Does it have side effects?
Some animals may experience altered taste or a burning sensation on the tongue; these usually lessen with continued use. If hypersensitivity reactions or erosions occur, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian.
Can it be used on puppies or kittens?
Consult your veterinarian before using on young or developing animals. It is generally suitable for use in protocols recommended by professionals.
Is it suitable for human use?
No. Product formulated exclusively for veterinary use.

Apply between the gums and lip, massaging gently to ensure the distribution of the gel over the tooth and gum surface.
Recommended frequency: 1–2 times a day. Practical procedure:
1. Keep the pet calm; if necessary, have another person hold it gently.
2. Lift your lip to expose your teeth and gums.
3. Apply a small amount of gel and gently massage the area for a few seconds.
4. Do not rinse; leave on. Avoid immediate feeding to allow for persistence.
Wash your hands after application.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not ingest. Product for veterinary use.
- Avoid contact with eyes: in case of contact, rinse with plenty of water and consult a veterinarian.
- May cause taste disturbance or a burning sensation on the tongue which usually subsides with continued use; if it persists, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
- Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine or any of the excipients.
- Avoid concomitant use with products containing anionic surfactants (e.g. certain toothpastes with lauryl sulfate) which may partially inactivate chlorhexidine; if using toothpaste, leave an interval and rinse well.
- Do not administer by any route other than the one indicated.
- Consult your veterinarian in case of severe oral disease, extensive open wounds, or systemic antimicrobial treatment.
