Betadine Bucal is an antiseptic solution based on povidone iodine formulated for oral and pharyngeal care in mild processes.
Its active ingredient releases available iodine that acts quickly and broadly against bacteria, viruses and fungi, disrupting essential microbial structures and preventing local overgrowth.
It is indicated for the symptomatic relief of canker sores and small mouth ulcers, halitosis of infectious origin and mild catarrhal symptoms accompanied by hoarseness or loss of voice.
The formulation incorporates excipients that facilitate application and provide a feeling of freshness (cineole, levomenthol) and tolerance (glycerol).
The product complements dental cleaning routines and oral hygiene care, and is found in the parapharmacy category alongside other personal hygiene products such as mouthwashes and toothbrushes; it is also marketed in environments where items such as deodorants, bath gels or shower gel coexist.
Mechanism and spectrum: Povidone-iodine shows microbicidal activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, enveloped and non-enveloped viruses, as well as fungi and yeasts.
The action is rapid and dependent on the release of free iodine; therefore, it provides localized disinfection after each use.
It is not considered a long-lasting protective barrier: its microbicidal effect occurs upon application, so clinical practice recommends using it several times a day as indicated.

-Avoid combining with other oral antiseptics that contain mercury, silver, hydrogen peroxide, or taurolidine.
-Caution with simultaneous use of lithium. It may interfere with analytical tests (glucose, hemoglobin in urine/stool, thyroid tests).
-In case of accidental contact with eyes or ears, rinse with plenty of water and consult a professional.
-Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before use.
-Follow the instructions in the package leaflet and do not exceed the recommended dose.
